I HAVE A HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT!

If y’all don't follow me on Instagram you might not have seen that I have my first album coming out on JANUARY 12TH 2019!

I am just over the moon excited to share this music with y’all. The album is called Every Last Amen and all seven songs were written by my dear friend Kathy Gordon. The opportunity to bring these songs to life has been such a huge blessing. I am so in awe of how beautifully God has orchestrated every detail and has never failed to provide through this whole process.

HOW IT ALL STARTED

I want to take it back to how this whole thing started. The writer on this album, Kathy, was looking for a voice for a song she had written called Countdown to the Miracle. A mutual friend of ours saw a video of me singing and told Kathy to go check out my mom’s Facebook page, thank God for social media. Unfortunately the first video Kathy saw of me was from 8th grade singing ‘Part of Your World’ from The Little Mermaid, not my best work. I’m so grateful she did a little more digging and asked me to be the voice on her song.

We met for the first time at my church in Sealy. She drove all the way from Nacogdoches, TX to see me lead worship and I can’t even tell you how nervous I was. Pretty much everyone at my church knew she was coming and I really didn't want to disappoint. Little did I know that Kathy is so comfortable to be around and talk to. Her calmness fills the room and makes you feel right at home. Her love for Jesus is so evident in her worship and is so apart of who she is. Also, her favorite food is tacos so we were destined to work together.

Caleb and I made the journey to Nacogdoches to record at The Mixing Room owned by Jimmy Taylor. I thought I was nervous to meet Kathy but I was tons more nervous to record in the studio. I had major sweat stains by the time the session was over but, Jimmy is seriously an amazing producer. He made me feel so comfortable and was so patient with my mess ups. That day I fell in love with the studio. There’s just something about creating a song from scratch and watching it come to life. Getting to be a part of that creative process is my absolute favorite.

This was all in the summer of 2017. I can’t even believe its been that long. It wasn't always going to be an album. It kinda just started with songs here and there and evolved into what it is now. I’m so honored that Kathy chose me to be the voice of her songs. She is such a talented songwriter. Every song is written with such care and filled with the truth of Jesus.

THE TITLE

The title ‘Every Last Amen’ comes from a song on the album called ‘Can You Forgive Me’. The song looks back at a season of darkness and is a cry out to God asking for forgiveness and understanding. The chorus says:
Can you forgive me?
Can you help me understand?
Take my hallelujahs, Lord, take every last amen.
Help me see it’s not just times of peace when You deserve my praise.
I want to give You glory
Even when my heart breaks – like Yours breaks

The title was our mutual friend Courtney’s idea and I just fell in love when I heard it. God is worthy of all of our praise. Every hallelujah and every last amen. That’s what this album is. It’s a cry of praise to God, it’s full surrender to the One whose ways are so much higher.

I hope you will give this album a listen when it releases in January. It’s a unique sound that I pray fills your cars, headphones, and homes. I pray this album brings you into that place of full surrender to God. I pray it helps you loosen your grip on the things of this world and shifts your focus to things above.
