VICTORY
So I recently bought a hat. I’m not normally a hat wearer out of fear that I will go bald or that I’ll “suffocate my hair” whatever that means. But I was on one of my favorite christian apparel websites (because I had a coupon code LOL) and ran across this baseball cap or “dad hat”. I was so drawn to it, especially the word it had stitched so cutely on the front, VICTORY. After going through page after page of apparel I returned to the hat and debated whether or not to get it. The dialogue that ran through my head was probably what every woman is thinking when she’s about to buy something online:
“Can I pull that off? What if I get it and it’s not cute? Will I ever wear it? I’m not really a hat person. What if I wear it too much and go bald?” After debating for about 30 seconds (I’m an impulse buyer) I decided I needed this hat in my life.
This may sound weird but I’ve never had a piece of clothing that has made me feel more confident than this hat. It’s not that I look good in it or that it perfectly hides my hair on those days when it really needs a wash, but because of the profound word it says on the front, VICTORY. You might be thinking I got this hat because I accomplished a goal or did something awesome so I’m making victory my mantra, but that’s not the case.
You see, every time I wear this hat I am reminded of the victory I have in Christ. That may sound silly but it’s seriously what I look forward to every time I put it on my head.
The victory I have in Jesus is on the fore front of my mind everywhere I go and I LOVE it.
The definition of victory is: an act of defeating an enemy or opponent in a battle, game, or other competition. I love that that’s the first definition that pops up because that’s EXACTLY what Jesus did for us. If you don't get why I’m saying I have victory in Christ let me break this down:
God sent His one and only son, Jesus, down to this earth as a little baby. He put on flesh and became human so that we could get to know Him as our friend, brother, and Savior. After being tortured and mocked He died a gruesome death on the cross for ALL of our sins. He took on every single sin of every single person that will ever walk this earth. He carried our burdens to the cross because He loves us that much. He died and went to hell FOR US to defeat death and the devil in an epic battle. In three days He was resurrected and came back to earth to give the gift of the Holy Spirit to His disciples. He then ascended into heaven to be reunited with His father, our Almighty God. He has set us free from our sin so we can rejoice in knowing we have VICTORY through Jesus Christ who beat death!!!!! HE’S SO AWESOME!!
Let me drink some water after that one, I just took you to CHURCH!!!
If you don't have a relationship with God I hope that paragraph gave you hope that there is a God who loves you. There is a God who would send His own son to die for YOU. You don't have to do this life alone. You don't have to walk in fear or worry about what life will bring because you have a God who is crazy about you. He wants you to surrender every part of your life to Him. He wants you to put ALL of your faith in Him. There is no sin that can keep you from the love of the Father. If you haven't talked to Him in a while it’s not too late, it’s never too late.
Hold your head up high because God has made you VICTORIOUS.
“Can anything ever separate us from Christ’s love? Does it mean he no longer loves us if we have trouble or calamity, or are persecuted, or hungry, or destitute, or in danger, or threatened with death? (As the Scriptures say, “For your sake we are killed every day; we are being slaughtered like sheep.”) No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.” ~Romans 8:35-37
