Our one year anniversary weekend!

As of Sunday, March 25th Caleb and I have been married for ONE YEAR!!! It’s so so crazy to me that we've already reached this point. I know everyone says this but it literally feels like we JUST got married. I told Caleb on our anniversary, “Dang, I can’t believe we've been married for a year. I thought our wedding was still like relevant news…” HA.

Caleb and I went back and forth on what we wanted to do for our one year anniversary weekend. He was fine just hanging out at home and going to our favorite Mexican place. But of course me being me I was thinking we would go on a weekend trip and do something “adventurous”. I went into our anniversary weekend thinking that we were gonna stay home and chill and honestly was a little sad (I’m such a brat). But Caleb being the best husband in the world decided to surprise me with a weekend trip to Brenham!!

I’ve never done this before but I want this blog post to be a recap of our awesome weekend. It was filled with so many great memories and I really want to share them with y’all!!
  1. Our amazing antique inn we stayed at: The Ant St. Inn in Brenham, TX

Caleb found this place online and apparently it’s listed as one of the top things to do in Texas! It’s such a magical little place and our room was absolutely gorgeous! The inside is completely antique and you feel like you're living in the olden days, but in a good way. If you're ever in Brenham overnight I would strongly suggest checking this place out. We stayed in a room with two bedrooms because it's the only one they had available, but we loved it! Here's a couple pictures of our room!

2.  The yummy Italian place we ate at: Volare Italian Restaurant

That night we went to an Italian place in Brenham called Volare. It was very romantic and, like all of Brenham, was in an antique building filled with beautiful antiques. The food was good but OMG the tiramisu was AMAZING. I only got one picture of Caleb looking at his menu, but I’ll share it so everyone can enjoy how cute the top of his head is.

3. The cutest downtown you’ll ever see with the best antique stores: Downtown Brenham

The next day Caleb and I spent all day going to all the antique stores in downtown Brenham and spending way to much money, but it was so worth it! Caleb and I decided that this is basically a real life Stars Hollow from Gilmore Girls. The people, the shops, the old buildings, just everything! It’s so quaint and lovely I could honestly live there. If you're ever in Brenham go experience downtown! I wish I got more pictures of the downtown area, unfortunately I only got one but it’s of an awesome mural of owls.

Here's some pictures of what we got from antique shopping:

4. The best brunch you’ll ever have: Leeland House in Houston, TX

After church on Sunday, Caleb and I made the trek to downtown Houston to go to the best brunch place EVER. We’re not normally fancy brunch people but this place is amazing. We usually get the poached eggs on avocado toast and they are super yummy. We spoiled ourselves this time and shared the creme brûlée french toast and it was to die for. Please go there and eat their awesome food.

5. We ate our wedding cake: our home in Sealy, TX

I don’t understand who invented this weird tradition. What were they thinking? Is this supposed to be cute? I’m confused by this but Caleb and I did it and it was weird. Don’t get me wrong, the cake thawed out fine and it tasted good. I just couldn't get past the fact that I was eating cake that was a year old. Nevertheless, we laughed, videoed each other eating it, and saved the rest because Caleb wants to keep it until we eat the whole thing in about 50 years.

So that was our one year anniversary weekend! I hope y'all enjoyed this style of post. With all the cute and pretty things aside, I am so grateful that Caleb and I have made it to one year of marriage. I can't put into words how much we both have learned in this year and how much we still have to learn. It definitely isn't always smiles and rainbows around the Swan house and I couldn't be more grateful for that. Marriage takes real work, communication, and lots of prayer. It is the hardest and best thing in my life and I can't imagine doing it with anyone else. Caleb if you're reading this, thank you. Thank you for being so patient with me, but always pushing me to work harder. Thank you for holding me when I've had a bad day and laughing with me when I have my occasional blonde moment. I'm so thankful to our amazing God for bringing us together. Like we always say, "I love you but not more than Jesus." :)
